Colorado Rising invites everyone to Rally for the River – our event to raise awareness of the Uinta Basin Railway project and to Protect the Colorado River:
Join us on August 26th for an epic day on the Colorado River in Glenwood Springs, alongside national and local outdoor retailers, professional rafting companies, outdoor enthusiasts from across the state, and many others for a day of action to protect our precious Colorado River from the proposed Uinta Basin Railway!
The day will include a short float on the Colorado river followed by food, drinks, music, fun and festivities at Two Rivers Park.
- Date: August 26, 2023
- Flotilla Time: 10am put in at Grizzly Creek (Take out at Two Rivers Park)
- Hike or Bike Time: 11am meet at No Name rest area (March ends at Two Rivers Park).
- 1:00 pm: Press conference with local elected officials and local outdoor retailers. Followed by live music, food trucks and outdoor gear giveaway.

What is the UBR?
If approved, the UBR will haul millions of barrels of hot waxy crude oil across Colorado by rail as it travels hundreds of miles along the Colorado River. Up to 10 trains per day – each one up to 1-2 miles in length with an estimated 100 cars – will rumble through Grizzly Canyon, Gore Canyon, the Moffat Tunnel and downtown Denver on the way from Utah to the Gulf Coast for refinement. With the frequency of wildfires, rockslides, mudslides, avalanches, and flooding throughout the west, a derailment poses an unthinkable threat to the 40 million people who rely on the Colorado River to survive.
Seating on professional raft boats is limited so RSVP now to save your spot! Or, bring-your-own-boat (non-motorized watercraft) along with proper safety gear and come float with us!
Not into water sports? No problem! You can also walk, bike, stroll, skateboard or whatever floats your boat (pun intended) along the bike path that parallels the flotilla route.
