YOUTH Rising Advisory Committee:
Colorado Rising for Communities is working to include more youth leadership development programming to support young people in taking an active role in addressing critical issues through advocacy, education, and community engagement. We acknowledge that there needs to be a paradigm shift in how we are engaging and involving youth in the climate movement.
Including youth voices and especially those from historically marginalized groups is essential to building an equitable and inclusive future of environmentalism. Youth are the next in line to continue this work and it is important to build a foundation for them to step into their power. The purpose of the Youth Advisory Committee is to mobilize, educate, and empower young people to become proactive leaders in the fight against climate change.
This committee will serve as a platform for youth to share ideas and implement youth led strategies, campaigns, and projects that promote environmental sustainability and justice.
The committee aims to integrate climate justice as a top priority, recognizing that true environmental sustainability cannot be achieved without addressing the systemic inequalities that place disproportionate burdens on marginalized communities. By focusing on environmental justice, the committee seeks to ensure that the benefits of environmental protection and sustainability are shared equitably and that all communities and youth have a voice.
Join Our Youth Advisory Committee!
Colorado Rising for Communities’ Youth Advisory Committee is a program dedicated to center more youth leaders in the climate movement. The committee will be made up of ten youth, ages 13-18, and will meet one Saturday a month from May through the end of 2025. Those on the committee will work towards making positive, localized community impacts through youth-led initiatives. This committee will also support planning for the next Youth Unity Rising Summit!
